Villa Agresto, Gaiole in Chianti - Siena and Chianti
Agresto sits on its own private hilltop, decorated with vineyards manicured by the Ricasoli estate. With 360-degree surroundings of exquisite Italian countryside and a classic Tuscan interior decor, Agresto is a secluded idyllic retreat in the Chianti hills of the Siena. The views of the vineyards, olive groves and forests, all stretching outwards to the horizon, are spectacular, and the sunny private pool area is the perfect place from which to admire them.
Of course, the views are magnificent from all angles, but the design and architecture of the stone crafted house mustn’t be ignored. The rooms are well-equipped and nicely spaced out from each other, but it also has the distinctly cosy atmosphere of a family home. There’s a seamless authenticity to the designs, from the exposed wood ceiling beams to the sleek tiled bathrooms, to the subtle colour schemes. The dining room and lavishly equipped kitchen make it a superb choice for anyone looking to show off their cooking and hosting skills, and the bedrooms are exceptionally classy and comfortable.
Ideally situated in central Chianti – world-famous for its food, wine and natural beauty – Agresto is a great place to relax and a great base from which to explore. You don't need to go far, the heart of the Ricasoli estate is 2.5km away and offers castle tours, wine tastings, a bar and a first-class restaurant. The Ricasoli family created the modern Sangiovese grape-based Chianti wine recipe in the late 19th Century and have been producing wine on the estate for 800 years. The current Baron Ricasoli still resides in the nearby Brolio Castle and hosts wine tastings on request.
Beyond the Ricasoli estate, the Chianti life continues. The towns of Gaiole 8.5km away and Castelnuovo Berardenga 11.5km away are packed with artisan products, bars and restaurants to discover while the renaissance cities of art Siena at 20km and Florence at 65km are a day trip away.
If you're looking for a Chianti villa it doesn't come more Chianti than this!

Villa location
Guest reviews: Villa Agresto

Beautiful, spacious villa in a stunning location. Very private with spectacular views across the vineyards over to Siena. Lovely, comfortable bedrooms and plenty of living space. Gorgeous garden and pool. There were 10 of us on this trip, and there was plenty of room for us all but we never felt on top of each other - lots of large spaces to be together or plenty of small nooks away from everyone to curl up with a book or have an afternoon kip!. This is the second year our family has stayed at Agresto and we love it. Check-in was very easy this year with the key safe. Also, the table tennis table was a genius addition this year - very well used!
The staff are very friendly and helpful - always on hand if you need them, but leave you well alone if you don’t.Tour of Brolio castle and winery (oldest in Italy) is a must, as well as the wine tasting. And either lunch and/or dinner at the restaurant there is also excellent. If you’re into Italian ceramics, there’s a lovely little shop in Gaiole. The lady makes the pottery on site and can ship. A cooking class is also well worth it. We spent an excellent morning with chef Simone - small group cooking class in a Chianti farmhouse. Beautiful medieval towns of Siena and San Gimignano are nearby. Once you tire of the stunning architecture, leather goods shopping and lovely cafes and restaurants, the various torture museums there are gruesomely fascinating!
