With its imposing and dramatic hilltop position, close to the town of Arezzo, Villa il Sole has a fairy-tale quality about it. Perched, overlooking a valley, this large stone-built villa is a good choice for a large multigenerational group of family or friends. The interior is restful and easy on the eye: terracotta-tiled floors and wooden ceiling beams. Other features include striking internal arches and an exquisite split-level staircase. The bedroom with four-poster bed is probably the pick of the four generously sized and airy bedrooms.
There are a number of terraces positioned around the property, each offering a different view on your surroundings and perfect for al-fresco dining, or pre-dinner sundowner. From here - and from the private pool on a lower terrace - you can drink in superb views of the Tuscan countryside with the town of Civitella in Val di Chiana sitting among the folds of the hillside opposite.
