Villa Girasole is located towards the rear of the hamlet close to the swimming pool.  Steps lead up to the garden and the covered terrace which you cross to enter the villa.
The large arched glass doorway opens directly into the lounge/kitchen/diner.  This is a lovely light room with the kitchen area located towards the rear of the room on the right hand side.  The fitted units are arranged in an ‘L’ shape and have a dishwasher, oven, gas hobs and free standing fridge/freezer.  There is a wooden dining table and six painted matching chairs to one side.  Along one wall is a comfortable sofa with flat screen TV with satellite and DVD player.
To the right of the living area is a small corridor where the ground floor bedroom is located.  This has a double bed, dressing table and large matching painted wardrobe.  A door opens out onto the garden that runs across the rear of the property.  Next door at the end of the corridor is a bathroom with corner shower, basin, WC and bidet.
Stairs from the corridor lead up to the first floor.  On the left at the top of the stairs is a large storage cupboard, opposite on the right is the bathroom with corner shower, basin, WC and bidet.  The spacious second bedroom has a double bed, painted dressing table and matching wardrobe.  Please note that both bedrooms can be made up as twins if required, please advise us at the time of booking what configuration you require.
Outside the large covered terrace at the front of the property is furnished with dining table and six chairs.  Sitting here you probably have the best views across the vineyards toward the city of Sienna on the left and the hilltop castle of Cacchiano on the right.  There is a raised grass area to the rear of the villa planted with trees which both the living area and ground floor bedroom open onto, and a further very large uncovered raised terrace to the side.
The villa has either terraced or garden areas on three sides of the property with the most stunning views across the surrounding countryside.
All bedrooms can be made into twins, if you require twins please request this when booking.
Air conditioning - available and charged for use

The garden is fenced.
Small dogs are welcome, there is an extra weekly charge for their stay, payable at the property.

Location: San Regolo in Brolio

San Regolo in Brolio is a lovely brand new hamlet with a small collection of villas located on the edge of the village of San Regolo, and is within easy walking distance of the centre of the village.
The hamlet consists of 5 buildings housing a total of 8 apartments, each of the villas have been thoughtfully and tastefully put together, with each accommodation having their own private garden and terrace. In addition, each villa also has its own private garage for guests use.

Located on a lower terrace to the rear of the hamlet is the shared salt water swimming pool. This is a fantastic location boasting wonderful views across the vineyards and countryside to Siena and Monte Amiata in the distance behind the medieval city.
From the hamlet it’s a short walk up hill to the famous Brolio castle, which is surrounded by its own vineyards. You can visit the castle where the 32nd Baron Ricasolli and his family live. There is a restaurant serving traditional Tuscan food and you can have a wine tasting in the tasting rooms.

Dogs are welcome, a local charge will be made per week

Pros The views and beds were good. Dishwasher worked well. Swimming pool very good.
Cons Lack of any comfortable seating, in fact, not even enough for the capacity of the villa. Insufficient towels provided.
Local attractions Castello Brolio was excellent. Seeing hoopoes quite exciting. The surrounding towns were all interesting.

Pros The view from the terrace, especially at sunset, was beautiful. The pool was lovely and just across the road. The laundry room with many 'spare' items (our airing rack broke, so we just swapped it with a good one from there) was an excellent feature. Also the ltlle kitchen garden with lettuce, zuchini, basil etc was a bonus - shame the tomatoes weren't ripe yet!
Local attractions Il Carlino d'Oro was a hidden gem, and the Villa's proximity, a gentle walk from historic Brolio Castle has to be a bonus. Siena wih all its attractions was close 20 minute drive away, and of course it's in the heart of the beautiful Chianti countryside.

Pros Lovely location albeit a little isolated. The accomodation was very good, very quiet and had a nice pool. The views were beautiful and we found the experience very relaxing.
Cons It was a little too isolated with very limited choices of places to eat in the evenings. There was a restaurant at Castil0 Brolio, but it was too expensive to eat at each night, 3 courses plus wine for 2 averaged 95 Euros. There was a trattoria in the hamlet, easy walking distance, but only opened during lunchtime......we were out visiting the sights each day. Apart from this choice you had to drive to the nearest small town about 20 minutes in the pitch dark along very twisting roads, so we felt a little out of it even though we felt it was near to eateries according to the listing.
Local attractions The restaurant at the castle is expensive, small portions and not a great deal of choice, so apart from a 20 minute drive it is difficult to recommend a restaurant. It was getting to the end of the season, so we felt the choices were very limited. Siena about half an hour away is beautiful, and the countryside is spectacular everywhere.

Pros Villa Girasole is in a great location for exploring the Chianti region. It makes an excellent base for day trips. The unit is lovely, spacious and clean. The pool and garden are wonderful as well. Driving, walking or cycling, you will enjoy staying at Villa Girasole.
Cons The wifi was spotty and the kitchen could have included some more basics, like pepper and sharper knives.
