Antica Poesia, Camaiore - Lucca and Viareggio

We have mixed reviews about the villa. The villa itself was cute, quaint and very clean. However, there were very few basics provided – no dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid, or even enough toilet paper (just two rolls for a family of four for a week).

The DVD was broken so I’m not sure why it hadn’t been removed and the TV had only one working English channel.

The biggest let-down was the pool. A week before we flew, we were told it had been replaced due to damage and dismantling of the original pool, but the “replacement” was small and situated across the road and through a gate. This was not made clear when we booked and was a real disappointment.

The location is described as a 10-minute walk to the village, but it’s actually a steep climb not an easy stroll, and in reality you need a car to go anywhere. The beds in the villa were hard, making it difficult to get a decent night’s sleep.

On the positive side, the view from the pool was lovely, and the villa is well-situated for visiting Lucca and Pisa, both of which are beautiful and worth seeing

Antica Poesia is a magical place. The hosts took care of every detail to make our holidays enjoyable and were always available to help. I highly recommend this place!

Charmantes Flair, schöner gepflegter Garten, sehr sauberer und großer privater Pool, tolle Aussicht ins Tal. Glühwürmchen-Schwärme überall am Abend. Die Outdoorküche im Garten wurde ausgiebig genutzt und war unser Hauptaufenthaltsort. Die Fotos des Ferienobjektes entsprechen der Realität. Der Gastgeber Pasquale war immer erreichbar. Insgesamt ein sehr schöner Urlaub.

Wij hebben een hele fijne week gehad in Antica Poesia. Pasqualle is een hele vriendelijke en betrokken gastheer!

We hebben genoten van de restaurants dichtbij de accomodaties. Zowel bij Da Franco als bij Le Meraviglie. Ook kunnen we iedereen aanraden om te genieten van de kookkunsten van de gastheer en -vrouw!! Een absoluut authentieke Italiaanse ervaring. We hebben er van genoten!

The villa is such an interesting building, beautifully furnished and with some interesting artefacts. The kitchen is very well equipped. We loved the garden, the views are stunning. Our plan had been to eat out but you can't get a better location than here, so we made good use of the BBQ and outdoor kitchen.
My daughter's boyfriend even proposed to her in the garden!
We couldn't fault Antica Poesia, it's perfect, a week just wasn't long enough.

The area is beautiful. We went to Pisa and Lucca, both worth visiting. The town of Camiaore is charming and has an excellent butcher, we also explored the local mountain villages above the town which we would recommend. We weren't impressed with Viareggio, very busy seaside resort where the beach is privately owned so you can't just nip down for a quick dip! We ventured to Cinque Terre which was stunning. Drive to La Spezia and take the train from there.

We had the most amazing week at Antica Poesia. The tiered garden with pool, BBQ, outdoor kitchen was where we spent most of our time - the views were brilliant and the photos really don't do it justice. Pascale welcomed us warmly and was on hand if we needed him. The house was spacious, beds comfy and the old olive press a nice feature.
We would happily come back.

We walked into Montemagno for dinner on a few nights. Reservations are needed but food good, cheap and friendly helpful service. We visited nearby Lucca and Pisa which we would recommend.

Fantastische locatie! Een mooi huis dat met liefde authentiek is ingericht en van alle gemakken voorzien. Heerlijke tuin met zwembad, BBQ, buitenkeuken (ook volledig ingericht) en mooi uitzicht (in de verte Lago di Puccini en -bij helder weer- de zee).
De eigenaar Pasquale was super vriendelijk en behulpzaam en hij heeft heerlijk voor ons gekookt met lokale producten.

Favoriet restaurant: de maaltijd die Pasquale voor ons gekookt heeft :-) Verder zijn er heerlijke restaurants in Pisa, Lucca, Viareggio, Livorno. Ook leuk om te doen: open lucht opera bijwonen aan het meer van Puccini en de activiteiten in de canyon bij Bagni di Lucca.

A really lovely location and villa with so much history. The owners were very helpful, exactly as described. If you go into the garden at nights you can even see fire flies and glow worms!

Bardzo ładna lokalizacja, na uboczu, bardzo spokojnie, kameralnie. Przestrzeń do wypoczynku bardzo dobra..

Myślę wrócić tu kiedyś.

Najbliższe 2 restauracje ok 15 min na piechotę, na wysokim poziomie, warte odwiedzenia i korzystania.. Dojazd do Viareggio i wypoczynek nad morzem Zwiedzanie Lukki oraz Pisy Tyle wystarczy na 1 tydzień

Wspaniałe miejsce, mam nadzieje, że wkrótce ponownie tam zawitamy.

Jeżeli ktoś lubi zwiedzać w zasięgu 1.5 h jazdy samochodem: Florencja, Siena. W pobliżu, 30 min Piza i Lukka. Najbliżej na basen -> przez drogę :).

we hebben het erg naar ons zin gehad, de ligging in de bergen is prachtig, Via reviews hadden we gelezen dat de bergweg stijl was maar wij vonden de weg zeer goed te berijden en het huisje is niet moeilijk bereikbaar.
In het huisje is alles aanwezig wat je nodig hebt. Ook fijn is dat er een wasmachine is zodat je minder kleding hoeft mee te nemen op vakantie. De woonkamer is vrij donker en aangezien wij ook regelmatig regen hadden en niet naar buiten konden was dat wat somber maar bij zonnig weer ga je toch naar buiten. Het huis is daardoor wel koel.
Het privé-deel buiten met terassen, buitenkeuken en zwembad is geweldig met een prachtig uitzicht. In de ochtend was het heerlijk genieten van het gezang van de vogels. Om tot rust te komen is dit een heerlijke locatie.

We hebben een borrel gedronken bij de plaatselijke fiets-verhuurder wat gezellig was en gegeten bij restaurant le meraviglie, waar we heerlijk hebben gegeten. Verder hebben we in Camaoire bij een hele grote supermarkt met 29 kassa's inkopen gedaan en waar alles te krijgen is zodat we zelf konden koken in het huisje, wat we leuk vinden. Pisa, Siena en Lucca liggen dicht in de buurt en zijn leuke stadjes om te bezoeken. De omgeving in Montemagno is prachtig met veel groen.
