Il Mandorlo at Casale Bellaluce, Canale Nuovo - Orvieto - Orvieto in Umbria
Casale Bellaluce is a traditional stone built house, which was completely renovated in 2003 into 4 apartments. The makeover has been done in a very sympathetic manner, keeping many of the original features, yet bringing the property up to date and providing all the expected modern comforts. The large inviting swimming pool is positioned in one corner of the garden; it is completely surrounded by fencing with a gate for safety. The paved pool surround is furnished with sun loungers, chairs and umbrellas. From the pool and garden you have far reaching views across farmland to the rolling Umbrian hills in the distance.
The original farmhouse was built on this plot around 1000 AD, although the current house is much later. It was also at one time a Benedictine Monastry which is why there is the church attached to one side of the building. The area itself has been inhabited for far longer than that, it was during the renovation work that a Roman cistern was found. The property has three separate apartments and a detached cottage. The three apartments are located in the main building and the cottage is located opposite the main house. The largest apartment is on the first floor while the ground floor houses the two smaller apartments. Each accommodation has its own private outside space where you can enjoy dining al fresco. There is a 13th century chapel attached to the left side of the house which has lovely 16th century frescoes inside. The chapel is still consecrated and at the end of July each year there is a service held to celebrate a local religious festival.

Das Ferienhäuschen Il Mandorlo entspricht der Beschreibung. Die Alleinlage (abgesehen natürlich von den 3 weiteren Ferienwohnungen im Haupthaus) ist traumhaft schön, die Anlage sehr gepflegt. Man fühlt sich sehr wohl im Schatten der Bäume und kann auch heiße Tage gut dort verbringen. Die Betreuung ist sehr nett, hilfsbereit und fürsorglich -sehr angenehm. Die überdachte Terasse ist toll, der Pool ist sauber und lädt zum Schwimmen ein. Rundherum sorgen Olivenbäume und Haselnusssträucher für richtig gutes Ambiente. Ein Highlight ist auch das zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten zu erreichende Restaurant Jovez. Ein uriges, italienisches Lokal ohne Speisekarte mit viel Flair und noch viel leckerem Essen, schon die Vorspeisen sind ein Traum! Unbedingt hingehen! Toller Ausgangspunkt für Unternehmungen in alle Himmelsrichtungen. Auto ist erforderlich, eine Wandergegend ist es eher nicht. Auch fahrradfahren ist nicht zu empfehlen, da man nur auf Straßen fahren kann und es entweder bergauf oder bergab geht.
Das einzig negative, was uns zu schaffen machte, war das durchgesessene Sofa im Wohn-/Essbereich. Das ist tatsächlich sehr unbequem. Die Betten dagegen haben wir als sehr bequem empfunden und gut geschlafen, bis uns ein neuer Morgen mit fantastischen Farben beim Sonnenaufgang weckte, den man direkt vom Bett aus genießen kann.
wij zijn in Bagnaregio geweest. Een mooi dorp wat via een loopbrug bereikbaar is. wij moesten wel ver parkeren maar gelukkig was daar een man met een soort riksja die ons tegen een fooi wilde brengen naar de loopbrug. Verder hebben wij Orvieto bezocht ( de grote Kathedraal moet je gezien hebben!!). je kan parkeren op de grote parkeerplaats bij het station ( gratis) en de funiculair nemen naar het dorp.
wij zijn ook met de trein vanuit Orvieto naar Rome geweest. Prima te doen. je komt aan in het centrum van Rome en stap zo op een Hop on Hop off bus waarmee je alle hoogtepunten van Rome in korte tijd kan zien. Om alle bezienswaardigheden van binnen te bekijken heb je wel langer dan een dag nodig omdat de rijen erg groot zijn.
