Le Volpaie, Barberino Val d'Elsa - Florence and Chianti
Le Volpaie is a spacious stone farmhouse nestled in the gentle hills of Chianti. With its idyllic location and generous indoor and outdoor areas, it offers the perfect setting for a relaxing holiday surrounded by the beauty of the Tuscan countryside. The house is ideal for families or groups of friends looking to enjoy peaceful days in an authentic setting.
The charming medieval village of San Donato in Poggio is less than five kilometres away and has a small Coop supermarket for daily needs. The area is home to several wineries offering guided tours and tastings. One of them, Le Filigare, can even be reached on foot in just twenty minutes. Castellina in Chianti is thirteen kilometres away and known for its excellent restaurants and one of the region’s best ice cream parlours, the Gelateria di Castellina. Panzano is a similar distance, while Greve and Radda are only slightly further. A local tip from the villa's friendly owners is the restaurant Uscio e Bottega, just three kilometres away. San Gimignano, Siena and Florence are perfect for day trips.
The large house is surrounded by a well-kept garden with mature trees. Several furnished terraces offer plenty of spots for dining or relaxing with views of the picturesque landscape. The beautiful pool is set in a slightly higher part of the grounds and invites guests to unwind while enjoying the view. There is even a small playground in the garden for families with young children.
Inside, the two-storey villa features traditional terracotta floors, preserved fireplaces, neutral tones and comfortable furnishings. Bookshelves, a piano and colourful artwork add charm and a homely touch throughout.

We visited Siena, Florence, San Gimignano, all amazing placed and duomos. Best place for bistecca alla Fiorentina is Ristorante La Fattoria - expensive but absolutely worth it! For lunch the beautiful Osteria il Campanellino - great views and fab dishes. August is extremely hot, so if you want to explore Tuscany and enjoy the medieval towns, either avoid peak summer time or be prepared!
