Rocca di Castellina is a small and peaceful hamlet set on a family-run agriturismo in the heart of the Chianti Classico, where wine and olive oil are produced on site. The property consists of two holiday apartments located next to the farmhouse of the friendly owner family, as well as a detached villa a short distance uphill, converted from a former barn. Each accommodation has its own furnished outdoor space and features classic Tuscan interiors with wooden beamed ceilings and terracotta floors. Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, Rocca di Castellina is an ideal place for a relaxing stay in the Chianti countryside. Guests can enjoy a beautiful shared pool, perfect for cooling off on warm summer days while taking in the far-reaching views over the landscape.
The location is excellent for exploring the region. Castellina in Chianti can be reached in just ten minutes by car or in around twenty minutes on foot and offers good restaurants, shops and supermarkets, as well as one of the best ice cream parlours in the area, the Gelateria di Castellina. Siena, San Gimignano, Florence and Arezzo are all easily accessible for enjoyable day trips.

Il Nocino is a single story semi-detached villa with a large stone-paved terrace and a dining area beneath a pergola, perfect for enjoying alfresco meals while taking in the beautiful views over the vineyards and nearby Castellina. Inside, traditional Tuscan wooden beamed ceilings blend with comfortable furnishings, offering everything needed for a relaxing holiday.

Zeer mooie bungalow. Keukenuitrusting was boven verwachting en van alle gemakken voorzien. Slaapkamers zeer groot met ruim voldoende bergruimte. Het matras in de grootste slaapkamer is wat aan de harde kant. Geen probleem als je dit gewend bent maar voor senioren kan dit rugklachten geven. Badkamers beter dan in menig hotel. Il Nocino is een geweldig huis om te verblijven. Erg hoog gelegen en je hebt een goede lichamelijke conditie nodig om te voet naar Castellina in Chianti te kunnen wandelen. Klein adviesje: een hordeur o.i.d. voor de deuren kan helpen om het huis in de avond wat af te koelen want dan komt er een lekker windje. De airco hoeft dan iets minder aan wat weer energiekosten bespaard. Ook kan je dan in het donker een lichtje aan doen zonder dat er insecten naar binnen vliegen.Onze grootste favoriet was de pastacursus en de wijnproeferij die door de eigenaren zijn gegeven. Het uitzicht vanuit Il Nocino is al een bezienswaardigheid op zich. Een ritje naar Pogibonti is alleen vanwege het landschap al de moeite waard. Castellina in Chianti is een leuke plaats met een variëteit aan winkels. Heerlijk gegeten bij Il Fondaccio waar ze naast steenoven gebakken pizza ook heerlijke beef-gerechten serveren. Een ijsje van Gelateria di Castellina is een echte aanrader. Voor een lekker kaasplankje als lunch moet je zeker naar Casa Brancaia. Het bedienend personeel was overal zeer vriendelijk. Helaas was ons verblijf niet lang genoeg om alle restaurantjes uit te proberen.
