Tenuta Lo Spugno, Radda in Chianti - Siena and Chianti

The Villa was fantastic, the pool, gardens and spaces in the house suited our group of 8.

It was nice if there is a dryer to dry my clothes after washing them. The ac system is locked, so we either turn it on 24 hours or turn it off completely. It’s nice to be able to reduce or turn them off while we are outside most of the day. I think it’s very important to have a water gallon for drinking and tea and coffee. In Sicily they gave us one for free and the next one for 8 euros. Other than these comments, the house was so nice, the pool was inviting.

We were four couples looking for the dream vacation in a Tuscan villa in Chianti and Lo Spugno more than exceeded our expectations! The villa, while somewhat more challenging to reach on the steep dirt road, is absolutely beautiful, overlooking the hills of Chianti and the villa's own vineyard and olive tree grove. The summer kitchen and accompanying outside terrace is divine. We also spent plenty of time around the pool and enjoyed the whirlpool and sauna. The garden and villa are very well-maintained and I suspect we will back in the future!

Tenuta Lo Spugno is a beautiful villa. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The grounds are beautiful along with the pool and spa. The stonework throughout makes the entire place feel magical. We also had a chef prepare a meal for us while in the villa and had a cooking class as well. Thanks for a fabulous stay!

We stayed at this property for five days in mid-April and included two couples. The property is beautiful, quiet, and peaceful and we enjoyed our stay in lovely Tuscany.
Positives: Spacious rooms nicely decorated, lovely property
Not so Positives:
-We did not know that the property was gated until two weeks before checking in. This was fine, however, whenever we had guests (car services, private chef, etc.) we had to get in our car and drive to the gate to let them in, even though there appears to be an intercom system within the villa. Renters should be able to use this system to let people onto the property. Also, on the keychain there were six different keys for the various buildings on the property, they should be labeled.
-We checked in on a Sunday and did not have a 'meet and greet' with To Tuscany so were left to wander around and review the property on our own. We had to look all around for the washer and were disappointed to find that it was an extremely tiny capacity washer, could only wash 3-4 items at a time in a cycle. Since this was in the extra guest house, there is plenty of room for a full-sized washer.
-The ground level shower was so clogged the first day that the water overflowed all over the bathroom.
-One of the main level showers was moldy and we had to clean it up.
- Insect issues in various areas of the house: by the front door there were swarms of bees; Ants and beetles in the bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchen.
-We did not use the wellness center at all during our stay and never changed the temperatures but had to pay for heating the hot tub anyway.

We loved Malborghetto Ristorante in Lecci. We also had a private chef from Chef Tales to make us dinner at the villa that was wonderful. Also highly recommend cooking class at Albola Castle, we thoroughly enjoyed the activity, including the wine tasting. Radda in Chianti is a nice nearby town where were were able to get supplies and bakery items

we hebben ontzettend genoten van het verblijf in deze villa. de tuin, t zwembad, de jacuzzi, alles was fantastisch! de rust en stilte, de uitzichten. dat beviel meer dan goed. er waren wel een aantal zaken verouderd zoals de terrasstoelen, waren er maar vier terwijl het een 8 persoonshuis is. en twee waren er stuk. in t huisje was t lattenbodem ve bed kapot. keukendoeken waren er minimaal, 1 of 2 welgeteld, daar kun je geen 10 dagen mee doorkomen. de kussens van de ligstoelen bij het zwembad waren erg vies en versleten. Annie heeft ons nieuwe gebracht. Roberto heeft de stoelen gerepareerd. we kregen een extra schoonmaakdienst en extra schone handdoeken. plus dat de airco in sommige ruimtes waar we bijna niet verbleven volop koelde en t op de slaapkamer te warm bleef. dit is ook aangepast. geen klagerij, zo bedoel ik het niet maar we vonden dat we dit wel konden melden, we betalen toch de hoofdprijs voor deze mooie villa en dan mag je ook verwachten dat het allemaal klopt. maar we hebben ontzettend genoten van deze bijzonder mooie plek in Chianti.....

we hebben diverse restaurants bezocht. een aantal welke ook in het boek vermeld stonden. heerlijk gedineerd en ook met een fantastisch uitzicht. Florence, Sienna, Panzano, een winery. scootertocht door de heuvels van Chianti, fantastisch!

Once we found it, we learned to love it! it IS a long way off the beaten track though and that first evening, lost and tired after travelling all day was very frustrating due to the directions not being adequate and the lady who was to welcome us not having sufficient english to help us. We were also very disappointed not to find a welcome pack of any kind - none of the usual bread, milk and eggs kind of thing we've already had before with many past rentals. Would have saved us from having to go all the way back out again to find a shop still open.
Other than that - it's a beautifully appointed property in gorgeous surroundings, very stylishly furnished and comfortable. The Summer house, where the fourth bed is, not so much. The pool, steam room and garden are great. But you need to be willing to get in the car and drive for min 15 mins to get anywhere or anything.

The family-owned and run Loggia in the village of Radda was our top pick. Really authentic Tuscan food lovingly cooked and great local small estate wines. The chef who catered for us one night on the villa administrator's recommendation was also wonderful - again local food cooked with care.
