Casa Girasole is a lovely, naturally cool, comfortable and characteristic Tuscan villa.  Originally an old wine cellar, it still has its original high vaulted ceilings made of stone with alcoves set in the walls. The floors are paved with traditional terracotta tiles throughout. Entrance into the apartment is from the little street leading through Vertine. It is mostly quiet but sometimes neighbors can be heard.
About 100 meters away from the cosy villa is a raised terrace complete with private Jacuzzi for up to 6 people. This is a wonderful spot to relax while enjoying the warm Tuscan sunshine.

The raised terrace is furnished with an iron table and four chairs, perfect for dining al-fresco. From here guests can enjoy glorious views of the surrounding countryside and distant hills.
Inside the villa is an open plan lounge, diner and kitchen. Plenty of light enters the room from the glass main door with a window above. The lounge is furnished with a double sofa, small table, wooden cabinet and a television. Immediately to the left of the main entrance is a bathroom with shower.
At the back of the room is the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen offers plenty of workspace. There is an oven with gas hobs, washing machine and a small fridge. To one side is a wooden dining table with seating for six.
To the right of the lounge is a double bedroom. This room also has a high stone vaulted ceiling and the original rough stone wall at one end. It is furnished with an iron double bed, chest of drawers with mirror, double wardrobe and a single armchair. Some daylight enters the room from the single window opening out into one of the small streets through Vertine.

Access to the furnished terrace is approximately 50 meters away from the front of the villa.

1 Double bed cannot be converted into twins.

Wifi is only available from the terrace.

Pool Info

Not far from the villa on the raised, furnished terrace is a wonderful Jacuzzi for 6 people. From here there are lovely views of the surrounding countryside and rolling hills.

The luxury Jaccuzzi is situated in a quite corner of the terrace and is surrounded by a manicured hedgerow which offers plenty of privacy.

We fell in love with Vertine the moment we arrived. Casa Girasole is situated in an idyllic location, with stunning views of the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Locating and checking into the accommodation was straightforward, although we would recommend parking just outside the hamlet and walking in (a distance of about 200 metres in total) as there isn't much space to park or turn a car around. The accommodation itself exceeded our expectations, and we loved the rustic feel throughout. Shutters ensured a great night's sleep!
Local attractions We loved the little bar in Vertine itself (30 m from Casa Girasole). Whilst it had a very small menu, the food was beautiful and quite reasonably priced. Nearby Gaiole in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Montepulciano are charming places to visit, along with the local vineyards and castles (Brolio). We would particularly recommend "Ristorante La Perla del Palazzo" in Radda for its superb food. 10-15 minutes north of Radda is Volpaia, where we enjoyed lunch on the terrace at Ristorante 'La Bottega'. The vista was simply breathtaking. Florence, Siena, Pisa and the Cinque Terre villages are all well worth a visit and are easily reachable (we would recommend the train from Pisa to visit Cinque Terre).

The location was great. The terrace and hot tub are fantastic and the short walk from the front door or the house was no problem at all. The kitchen and facilities were of a high standard. Kate at Il Rifugio was lovely as was the bottle of wine and cake she left for on entry as well as the basket of tomatoes from her garden half way through the week.
The wifi did not work on the terrace. The mosquito screens on the windows were inadequate and we couldn't open the windows as were being eaten alive each night.
Local attractions In Vertine the Vineria Vertine was great. It is 10 yards from the front door ! We loved Castello di Brolio, Radda in Chianti and Volpaia.

Owner Comment: Thank you for the review. Unfortunately the WIFI signal is weak on the terrace. A technician will fix the WIFI as soon as possible so that by next year it functions more efficiently. More appropriate mosquito nets have now been added.

The location of Casa Girasole was everything we were looking for, it was in the rolling countryside of vines and olives groves with fantastic views, the real Tuscany. The villa was perfect and so naturally cool after a long day exploring in the Tuscan sun. The terrace and hot tub were also fantastic and a must for watching the sunset. The little cafe at the end of the street was also a treat, great service and packed with character and locals which we loved as we felt a part of it.
