This attractive Tuscan villa for four in the hills north of Lucca commands fabulous views of the valley below. Set in a small well-kept garden, with a private pool, the stone house is fringed with a pretty wooden canopy, topped with terracotta tiles. This provides shade for a terrace that wraps around three sides of the building, offering different spots from which to be mesmerised by the landscape, even when the sun is high.

Inside, the two-storey villa pays tribute to the original structure with attractive details such as the stripped back stone walls, yet the overall look is contemporary, thanks to its neutral décor and clean lines. The large open-plan lounge is easy on the eye with its polished wooden floor, to which rugs add warmth, and the huge window that runs along one side of the room keeps it bright and airy. A spiral staircase ascends to the first floor, where two spacious double bedrooms, with attractive antique furniture, provide cosy places to snuggle up after a long day exploring medieval gems such as Castelnuovo di Garfagnana and, of course, Lucca.

Private Pool
The simple, raised prefabricated pool has metal steps into the water. It is located in the garden, close to the villa, and furnished with sun loungers.
The pool is 5.30x2.40 metres and 1.25 metres deep. It's open from May to September, weather permitting.
