Sant'Angelo Relais, Soci - Bibbiena - Arezzo and Cortona

The accomodation was all that we could wish for, the setting was beautiful, as was the villa and its furnishings. It covered everything that one could need, and was so well equipped. The pool was a lovely size, although on the cold side, but fine once you had braved the temperature. Plenty of loungers and chairs with all important shades. All in all a wonderful experience. Stefano and Roberta were excellent hosts and very helpful. Had a great evening making pizzas in the pizza oven and enjoyed the BBQ too. We were a party of 18, adults, teenagers and a small child and everyone had a wonderful holiday.

Th.e old village of Poppi was very interesting, We did a lot of cooking ourselves so cannot recommend restaurants. We enjoyed the surrounding villages, and visited on market days, but some of the markets were quite small.

Wir hatten mit insgesamt 17 Personen (davon 6 Kinder) eine wunderschöne Zeit, die Allen gerecht wurde. Das Pizzabacken war ein echtes Erlebnis, der Spar-Bereich eine gelungene Erholung an einen nicht so schönen Tag.

In Soci gibt es ein kleines Restaurant "la Vita" das sollte man besuchen, die hausgemachte Pasta ist ein Traum und im Weinkeller gibt es ein Fläschchen für jeden Geschmack.

Great owners/hosts. Wonderful grounds and very clean and neat buildings. Views, pool, tennis courts.....everythine!

The only thing that would have made it a bit better is having linnens chaged at end of first week and have the grass cut after the first week.

The villa was so much more beautiful than we had expected from the website. The grounds were huge and yet so full of character with bushes of lavender buzzing with bumble bees, the short walk to the large pond with geese and large fish, the woods full of geckos and huge pine cones, the lush wisteria climbing all over the outdoor eating area. We chose the villa as our venue for a family holiday cum wedding venue and it was perfection in every which way.
The icing on the cake was definitely the owners, Roberta and Stefano, who were so hospitable and kind. They didn't just offer advice, but even offered transportation to places we didn't know (eg. car hire places and various shops) and were there for us the whole time without being intrusive at all.
The pool was a dream - large and clean. The communal kitchen and outdoor eating area were like something out of a movie and were the centre point of everyone's movements, allowing us to drink wine, cook impromptu meals and order pizza (unfortunately we left booking the pizzaioli till too late and the day we wanted him he wasn't free) at will. We didn't spend a great deal of time inside the villa, not because the rooms weren't amazing, but because the outdoor area beckoned from early in the morning till late at night.

We came to the villa with several small children ranging in age from 18 months to 6 years and with older grandparents (one of whom is 85) and everyone, without exception, loved it. We cannot recommend the place highly enough and were heartbroken to leave.

We have nothing negative to say about the place. We've got pretty high standards which were higher still this time as this was the venue for our wedding, but we were left wanting for nothing.

The castle at Poppi is pretty spectacular for views of the Tuscan hills and countryside and the cafe outside is a great place to have a beer or ice-cream under the shade. The stairs up are pretty steep and not for the faint-hearted, but we were treated to great views at the top and a nest of baby pigeons half way up the stairwell! La Vite is a pretty nice, unassuming restaurant in Soci - although those expecting 'traditional' Italian pizza and pasta should be aware that this place serves Tuscan food. We also went to Il Tirabuscio in the old town of Bibienna, which was a little more upmarket and served some really special Tuscan delights.

Facilities, size, comfort, communal kitchen, our own pizzaiolo, exceptionally accommodating and helpful owners.

There is nothing not to like.
