Villa Alessandra, Cavriglia - Arezzo and Cortona

It was great.. the service was excellent - friendly owner, people - had everything we needed. the place was clean, rustic and well repaired. Kitchen had everything. Each major place to visit- driving is about 45 min. to hour to get to.

some notes. if you need to go into town - its about 2KM to actually get to market and it was a bit complex to find without a map. also, road to walk, is narrow and steep, so a bit dangerous as its a busy road. suggest, driving to market. Other than that.. outstanding villa.

we also hired the chef - Mauro, who we had for two dinners - outstanding...we could not have done better. Concierge service also got a driver who took 8 of us around Tuscany for 4 days. Stephano.. he was great. High recommend.

Very relaxing stay with very nice tenants. We enjoyed our holiday between pool and tennis court. Fresh vegetables from the orchard as a gift from the tenants added to a very nice stay.

Beautiful house and garden with clean pool area. Lot of room for 6 people (in and out). Rich equipment level in kitchen. Nice tennis court which could have more space around it. Nice location having the village nearby (walking distance). Enjoyable indeed :)

Nach einem sehr freundlichen Empfang und einer gründlichen Einführung dauerte es nicht lange, bis wir uns sehr wohl fühlten. Die Villa bietet großzügig Platz innen, wie außen und weiß mit der Einrichtung im toskanischen Stil sehr zu gefallen. Hier sei auch besonders die Küche erwähnt, in der wir viel Spaß beim Kochen hatten. Dank des sommerlichen Wetters, auch schon Anfang April, haben wir ausführlich die vielen Terrassen und Sitzmöglichkeiten im Außenbereich genossen. Natürlich waren auch der Pool und der Tennisplatz von uns hoch frequentiert. Rundherum war wir also sehr zufrieden. Einzig die Betten waren für unseren Geschmack ein wenig zu weich, weswegen ich auch nur 9 von 10 Sterne gegeben habe. Wir würden aber jederzeit wieder kommen!

Die gesamte Toscana liegt einem hier praktisch zu Füßen. Von Cavriglia, dem "Tor" zum Chianti aus, sind viele touristische Attraktionen aus gut zu erreichen. Aber auch ausgedehnte Radtouren und Wanderungen sind im nahen Umland geboten. Ein Highlight ist die Eisdiele "I love..." am Marktplatz in Cavriglia. Dort waren wir fast jeden Tag einmal. Toll auch die Einkaufsmöglichkeiten in Montevarchi. Der dortige Supermarkt läßt keine Wünsche offen und ist schnell und einfach zu erreichen.

Villa située dans un rayon de 40 km de superbes villes comme AREZZO, SIENNE, FLORENCE, RADA etc .... Entourée d'une multitude de restaurants d'un rapport qualité-prix un comparable

Private villa in an elevated position with huge grounds, a great pool and stunning views. Met on arrival by a very friendly Italian man with very little english but he gave us a tour whilst we waited for another family member for check-in.

Villa is far more impressive than the website pictures and is well kitted out with the advantage it has a pizza oven and a vegetable garden where you can pick salad for lunch! Smooth check-in & out process. Cavriglia itself is smaller than we expected and whilst there are shops there we drove to montevachi to coop fi for food and drinks.

Take insect spray the bugs love bare flesh covered in sun cream!

Overall a fabulous place which is everythign you would expect in Tuscany.

San Gimignano is well worth a visit, a picturesque down with shops and restaurants and a market. Parking was a nightmare so go early or abandon on the side roads near car park 1

Zeer ruim en zeer goede ligging. Met name de buitenruimte is fantastisch met jonge kinderen. Het huis heeft ook een geweldige moestuin, waar we de hele week met heel veel plezier en smaak uit gegeten hebben. De eigenaren waren ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

De inrichting is wat ouderwets, maar daarom misschien ook wel kidsproof.

Location was central to many of the cities we went to. We loved the pool. The pool and land were kept up nicely and our hosts were pleasant. Dick recommended Lorenzo Migliorini from Gastronomia Biagioni (https://www.facebook.com/GastronomiaBiagioni) for a cooking class. All of us (4 adults, 3 children) LOVED him. He is not only a great teacher, but also a great person. He was very resourceful when it came to places to visit (high quality leather and clothing), food to eat (the biscottis rocked), and alcohol to try (we are big into organic wines). He was key in making our stay awesome. The owners invited us to take from their garden. It was very nice of them!

What I would improve is having the keyholder/check in person walk you through the house. We weren't aware that the screens were retractable, and spent most of the days with our windows closed because we didn't want the mosquitos coming in...and it was VERY hot when we stayed. We only discovered the screens halfway through our stay. It wasn't until a week later did our hostess tell us about the fans, too. They were kept in a locked downstairs room. As for being isolated, it was not the case. The house is actually two dwellings, and we stayed on one side, and the owner stayed with his family on the other side. We could hear them clearly. However, the hedge blocked most of our views. Oh, and, the washing machine was leaking and walked when used.

We enjoyed the large pool, playing tennis, the spaciousness, the views, the easy access to Florence by rail from Montevarchi.
The owners were very pleasant, helpful and contrary to warnings Federicca speaks good English

Cavriglia and Montevarchi lack Tuscan character

Favourite restaurant was PAPASOLINO in Cavriglia. Great food generous portions and wine. Rada in Chianti and Valpaia worth a visit, try UCCI for food in the latter.

Die Villa ist sehr schön mit einem tollen Garten, liegt aber leider etwas abseits.

Florenz ist sehr schön, aber Siena hat uns noch besser gefallen! Restaurants sind in der näheren Umgebung leider nicht vorhanden.

The villa was very well equipped. The outdoor areas were excellent and lovely. The linens were fresh and plentiful. We were greeted by the key holder, who, although he did not speak English, had arranged to have someone (his son?) who did arrive very shortly after our arrival, which made the check-in and check-out process much easier. All the facilities (keys. locks, heat, etc.) were well-explained. It was very nice of them to leave us a bottle of their wine and their olive oil.

One of the showers did not have any shower curtains, which made a wet mess every time it was used..

Our first evening, we went into Cavriglia and ate at Papposileno, which was excellent. We did not really explore the town of Cavriglia until near the end of our stay, but we would recommend walking around Cavriglia on the first week-day of your rental to learn the available facilities. There is a Coop, a gourmet deli, a very good pizza place (carry-out), a gelato shop, in addition to Pappoliseno, which is right in town.

WE GOT A VERY POOR WELCOME. WE GOT TO THE VILLA& NO ONE WAS THERE. WHEN THE RESPRESENTATIVE CAME SHE SPOKE NO ENGLISH, WE DON'T SPEAK ITIALIAN & SHE COULDN'T UNDERSTAND US. WE ENDED UP GOING TO THE NEXT VILLA FOR HELP IN GETTING THE HEAT ON. THE NIGHT THE REPRESENTATIVE CAME TO PICK UP THE KEYS SHE ENTERED FROM THE BACK, NOT THE FRONT DOOR.

Grote ruime villa , met ruime kamers en badkamers. Prachtige grote onderhouden tuin met zwembad en een knap uitzicht over de vallei. Tevens mochten we ook gebruik maken van de moestuin en kruidentuin , dagelijks heerlijke verse sla, tomaten , courgette's enz..... De buiten Pizza oven en BBQ hebben we ook meermaals gebruikt

Deze villa is rustig gelegen en is een ideale uitvalbasis om de streek te verkennen, in een straal van zowat 50 a 60 km bevinden zich de steden Florence , Siena , Arezzo en de mooie route door de Chianti streek , die ja langs de dorpjes als , Castellina in Chianti , Rada in Chianti en Greve in Chianti laten wegdromen , Villa Allesandra is echt een aanrader.

We loved everything - the lovely villa, the beautiful property with the vegetable garden/olive trees/spacious grounds/patio and outdoor pizza oven, the romantic views, the sound of the Cavriglia bells in the morning, the kind owners, our wonderful liaison Lorenzo, the georgeous countryside within close proximity, the nearby towns. We felt very well taken care of during our stay.

We stayed at Villa Alessandra in December - we had concerns about the gas bill. Because of our lack of use, consequently we were cold. However, we enjoyed the warmth of the fireplace in the evenings.

Lorena and Lorenzo's fabulous shop, Gastronomia Enoteca, in Castelnuovo dei Sabbioni. A most special wine shop - Accademia del Buon Gusto di Stefano Salvadori, Panzano in Chianti. The best gelateria in the Chianti region - l' Antica Delizia, Castellini in Chianti. Wonderful restaurant - le del Chianti, Radda in Chianti. And, of course, Dario Cecchini's butcher shop and restaurant (Mac Dario), Panzano in Chianti. We will definitely visit all of these locations when we someday return.

Die Villa ist top ausgestattet und lässt keine Wünsche aus.
Für uns 2 Familien mit insgesamt 7 Kinder einen Traum zum verweilen und sich im und ums Haus vom Alltag zu erholen.
Die Besitzer sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Die Lage ist leider nicht die schönste. Der Arno und die künstlichen Seen sind durch die Industrie mit ihrer Vielzahl von massiven Fabriken gekennzeichnet und keinen Ort zum Verweilen.

Sobald man Richtung Siena fährt gelangt man zu den typischen toskanischen Landschaften. Da gibt es sehr schöne kleine Dörfer wie z.B. Radda in Chianti oder Castellina in Chianti.
