Location: Montebuoni

The village of Montebuoni is the perfect location for your dream holiday in this unspoilt corner of Tuscany. Situated along the crest of a gently rolling hill; wonderful, picture postcard views delight the eye in all directions. The private houses and apartments that make up Montebuoni blend in perfectly with the landscape of olive groves and vineyards.
Once a large estate producing wine and olive oil, the original stone buildings have been sympathetically restored to recreate the feeing of an authentic Tuscan village. Inside the houses are well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Most have their own private terrace or balcony and some have their own garden.
Arriving at Montebuoni cars are left in the car park under the shade of the olive trees. Gravel paths flanked by aromatic plants and beautifully landscaped gardens lead to the houses. Strolling through an area of parkland under the shade of oak, pine and cypress trees picnic tables and benches invite one to linger and admire the view before arriving at the pool area and the nearby full size astro-turf tennis court.
Montebuoni is the perfect place to unwind in the beauty of it’s natural setting, or, for the more energetic, to take time out for an early morning run, swim or bike ride. Take advantage of bread and milk delivered freshly to your door each morning. Just place your order at arrival check-in.
The historic towns of Siena, Florence and Arezzo are easily accessible by car. Local villages are a delight to discover. Stop for a cappuccino and visit the local grocery store in the nearby village of Lecchi to stock up on local wines  and fresh produce. There are several highly regarded, family run, restaurants within a short drive.
This area of Chianti is the home of the Gallo Nero Chianti Classico wines. The vineyard of Castello di Ama, one of the regins prestigious small scale wine producers, is on the door step. Holiday makers at Montebuoni are warmly welcomed to the wine tasting sessions held there weekly during the summer.

Pros Quiet and peaceful, terrace gave enough privacy and room were spacious and nicely furnished. Great pool for swimming laps, not too busy even though most apartments were being used.
Cons needs some air conditiong as windows couldn't be left open because of the mosquitos

Pros The area is beautiful, the location good and the house together with the rest of the village is very pretty with the crown jewel being the outside terrace of the hose overlooking the valley. Weather permitting we had all our meals on the terrace and it was a real pleasure. The grounds are ample and well maintained.
Cons The quality of the beds/mattresses was unacceptably low. In the main bedroom the bed is flimsy and makes a (great deal of) noise at the slightest movement. The mattress is (or feels) of low quality. The pull-out sofa in the living area was worse. The mechanism is of low quality or malfunctioning so it jams at a specific point making it hard to open and close. When open, the resulting bed is very uneven with prominent bumps caused by parts of the frame and sloping surfaces. None of this is helped by what can’t even pretend to be a mattress. I have no opinion of the beds in the second bedroom since only my kids slept there. An otherwise great experience was spoiled by a sensation of having really cheap beds and all the discomfort that goes with them. The living room is excessively dark making it necessary to have lights on right through the day.

Thank you for your comments. We are pleased to say that the owner has now put in a new sofa bed as well as new mattresses for both double beds.

Pros The location was great. We were able to explore the Tuscan country side as well as Lucca, Pisa, and Montlechino. The flat had adequate living space. Would be perfect for two couples. Its probably a little much for 1 couple
Cons We went in November and were required to pay for heat, which would have been fine if it was more reasonable. We were given 4 units free which was supposed to cover bathing and cooking gas. We purposely did not use the heat (except when we showed up as they already had the heat on). We ended up with 9 units on top of the 4 by just bathing, doing 1 load of laundry and cooking on 5 days. We stayed in Venice for two nights so were not there for 3 days. I think the company needs to revisit this as you can find yourself spending as much on heating as the rental charge. I found most places offer free heating, so perhaps those would be a better option in the fall-spring.
Local attractions Lecchi, Rada, Grieve, Montlechino, Florence We loved Castelina- we had our best meals there!

Pros The villa was mostly great (see comments below re the bed) with plenty of room and good facilities. The pool was great and we particularly enjoyed the walk into Lecchi, which had a lovely little shop and a fantastic restaurant. It meant that we could eat in or out depending on what we felt like on the day. It is also near Rada and San Sano, both of which we loved.
Cons The bed in the downstairs room was horribly uncomfortable and squeaked loudly if you so much as moved a muscle, so sleeping wasn't brilliant. Also the villa gave us one towel each for a week, one set of bedding for a week, toilet paper for about half a day and one small rubbish bag. Also no pool towels, so make sure you take your own. This in particular let the villa down. It wouldn't cost much to leave spare supplies - particularly as they ask you to empty the bins regularly. The mosquitoes were also a problem and meant that the beautiful patio was off limits for much of our stay, even using the citronella coil provided and plenty of deet.
Local attractions The deli shop in the middle of Lecchi is so good - try the crisp bread and all the lovely cheese. We also loved Ristorante Malborghetto in Lecchi, the quality of the food is amazing. The local Trattoria in San Sano is excellent and the Gelato at the cafe next to the cinema in Rada is worth a visit.

Pros terrace, although it was overlooked so not very private
Cons more mosquitos than at Cassetta Con Vista, no tennis racquets - you should mention on the website to bring them, not just balls. Neither villa we stayed in had them, it's up to the owners apparently, this was not made clear and my children were disappointed - why not have some in the office to hire???

Pros Mooi ruim en verzordg appartement voorzien van alle gemakken, mooie tuin met prachtig uitzicht.
Cons De beneden slaapkamer was nogal vochtig. Dit was ook aan onze spullen te voelen en ruiken bij thuiskomst. Het vocht trok ook in de matrassen en het beddengoed.
