Montebuoni with pool and tennis
Discover the enchanting Tuscany in central Italy. On a ridge overlooking the beautiful Tuscan countryside with its olive groves and vineyards, lies the undiscovered Montebuoni, a group of private villas and apartments surrounded by olive groves and beautifully manicured gardens and courtyards.

The large swimming pool is to one side of the hamlet, surrounded by mature shrubs and trees, with views of the rolling hillside in the distance. This is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this unspoilt heaven. The swimming pool is 15 metres x 7.5 metres and is accessed by ladder. There is also a small children’s swimming pool, which has a constant depth of one metre. Both pools are open from April to October (weather permitting)
Montebuoni was once a large estate producing wine and olive oil.  It is these original buildings which have been restored and modernised to a very high standard, whilst still maintaining many of the original features, which make Montebuoni such a great place to stay.  All the properties are fully furnished and well equipped, most have their own private terraces or balconies and some have their own garden.
Montebuoni has its own full size astro-turf tennis court located in the grounds near the pool area. There is a small typical Chianti village a short walk from the hamlet, with a grocery store which stocks all the basics, plus local wines, oils, hams and cheeses. Visit the next door vineyard Castello di Ama one of the Chianti regions finest wine producers for a wine tasting session.

For those who wish to explore the areas major cities and museums the hamlet is ideally located for day excursions to Florence, Siena, Arezzo and Pisa as well as discovering the smaller unknown Tuscan villages. Check out the events calendar on our home page to see if there are any festivals or events taking place that you can enjoy during your stay.

Pros Beautiful, well kept and tasteful villa with excellent views in beautiful surroundings. Enjoyed the use of the tennis court as well as the swimming pool.
Cons Insect bites (but to be expected).
Local attractions Nearby Radda is a lovely Italian village with some great restaurants particularly LA BOTTE DI BACCO RADDA. Also the restaurant in Lecchi by the children's playground was wonderful.

Pros My husband and I spent a week in Pergola in early October 2013 and found it to be the perfect apartment, setting and location for our travels around Tuscany. The home had everything we needed, was furnished in Old Tuscany style and we were perfetly comfortable for the week. We even cooked dinner once in the updated kitchen and it was almost as good as being home. The beds were firm, the living room furniture comfortable and we even had Wifi because the apt. is on an upper floor.
Cons The only possibly negative thing we could say is that the bedrooms are a bit dark. But that was okay because what would you expect from an old stone house.
Local attractions Della Rana in nearby San Sano was fantastic and the family running the restaurant even remembered us when we returned...three times. Lecchi has another fine restaurant, Marbugetti, which has a delicious menu a bit more on the "fancy" side. We ate in these two restaurants several times because we did not like traveling too far at night on those narrow roads.

Cons Have to walk past front door and terraces of two other properties to get to ours. Not private enough.

Local attractions Sienne, Rada di Chianti, Florence, San Giminiano. Toute la région est magnifique et le moindre village vaut le détour.

Pros I recently visited the Pergola, a villa I have been renting for ten years, to find that the new owners have kept the tradtional comfortable atmosphere that always remained here, a style in keeping with the hamlet of Montebuoni. I have always liked the space in Pergola that provides a seperated living area from the kitchen dinner which leads onto the terrace with pergola, the first owner of Pegola villa named the villa Pergola because under the pergola was his favourite place in the world, you can see why when you look over the hamlet and to the countryside beyond at any time of day.

Pergola is a privately owned villa in the hamlet of Montebuoni as are all the villas in Montebuoni privately owned, Pergola's individual characteristics are warm, charming, comfortable and traditional set on one of Chianti's most popular hamlets Montebuoni found on a hillside near to the villa of Lecchi in Chianti.
Cons I would prefer a larger shower in the large bathroom.
Local attractions Lecchi in Chianti - Paolo's wine bar/grocery store, Malborghetto restaurant
Radda in Chianti - small hilltop village, a great place to visit
Gaiole in Chianti - market town with supermarket, wine stores

Pros Beautiful villa in a lovely setting. The pool area was a definite asset as it was very warm during our stay and we spent several relaxing days lounging by the pool. The area was kept immaculate and there were always plenty of loungers around the pool. The gardens and yards at Montebuoni were spotless and beautifully landscaped.
Cons It was very warm which made it difficult for sleeping at night at our bedrooms were on the top floor...thank goodness for the fans that were provided. Our patio was shared (which we were not informed of). Thankfully the other villa was not rented so this was not an issue. Future renters should be informed that the small patio area could be shared with other tenants.
Local attractions We enjoyed the cooking school with Simone at Malborghetto. This was the highlight of our stay...we even went back for our final dinner there one evening. Enjoyed the wine tasting with Danielle at Casa Nuova di Ama. We signed up for the walk which would have cost 40Euro pp and ended up booking the wine tasting privately which only cost 16Euro pp. Great day. Day trips to San Giminagno, Certaldo, gelato in Castellina and Radda were great. Train into Florence from Montevarchi was convenient.

To Tuscany visited La Pergola, there are two large terracotta pots with newly planted shrubs screening the La Pergola terrace as seen in the photo-gallery above. The terrace is private to La Pergola and is suitable for eating al fresco.

What were the highlights of your holiday? Tuscan meals in local restaurants.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    Very nice. Exactly as pictured.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises? Didn't complain because it was manageable since we had two bathrooms but the ensuite shower has no water pressure and as such was not functional for showering.
Do you have any other comments?

What were the highlights of your holiday? Been studying Italian for many years and being able to be in Italy to speak Italian was very exciting. As a part time photographer going to the different beautiful sites, making images, in great sunny weather, was a dream. Made some great images to remember our stay. The wild boar running across the driveway ,when we first arrived, was most exciting. After spending each day touring it was so nice to return to our beautiful, comfortable farm townhouse. The other residents were very friendly and an added plus to our stay.
what was your overall impression of the accommodation?    The apartment was roomy and modern yet had the old world-country look, very warm appearance, well taken care of, extremely comfortable , All appliances worked well. Enjoyed sitting out on the patio and taking in the view of the country side. Very enjoyable.
Did you have any unpleasant surprises?
Do you have any other comments? This was one of my best vacations. Husband did all the driving which made it even better. Would love to return again. Dot Dinan gabphofo@verizon.net
