Thermal Springs

Tuscany has many natural thermal baths which make for excellent day-trips. Although none of them are technically in Chianti, we still deemed them worthy of inclusion in our list of 10 Chianti Classics. Some are very easily accessible from the region. The nearest to the Chianti area Sangiovanni Terme and Antica Quercialaia, both of which are in the beautiful town of Rapolano Terme. Some of the thermal springs run into rock pools which are free to use and situated in authentic countryside environments, one of these, located close to Chianti is the Terme di Petriolo, where there is also a wellness centre. Here, the water runs into river pools, providing an idyllic place to lounge in the hot water and swim in the cool river.
